Paris Xavier Shand (born May 7, 2001) is a Canadian-American football defensive tackle for the LSU Tigers. He previously played for the Arizona Wildcats.
Shand grew up in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, where he was part of the Team Canada U16 team and won a silver medal in the 2017 FIBA Under-16 Americas Championship in Argentina. He also won a silver medal in the shot put in the Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations.[2] Shand would then move to Windsor, Connecticut and attended high school at Loomis Chaffee School. Coming out of high school, Shand was rated as a three star recruit, where he committed to play college football for the Arizona Wildcats.[3] [4]
In Shand's first collegiate season in 2020, he tallied two tackles with one being for a loss, and a sack.[5] During the 2021 season, Shand played in eleven games with three starts, while notching 16 tackles with two being for a loss, and a sack and a half.[6] In the 2022 season, Shand totaled 23 tackles with two and a half being for a loss, two sacks, two forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery, in nine games with seven starts. [7] After the conclusion of the 2022 season, Shand decided to enter his name into the NCAA transfer portal.[8] [9]
Shand decided to transfer to play for the LSU Tigers.[10] [11] In week seven of the 2023 season, Shand notched six tackles with one and a half being for a loss, in a win over Auburn.[12] During Shand's first season with LSU, he recorded 17 tackles with five being for a loss, and two sacks.[13]
