Paria brushfinch explained

The Paria brushfinch (Arremon phygas) is a species of bird in the family Passerellidae. It lives in the undergrowth of humid forest, especially near the edges, at altitudes of 300mto1200mm (1,000feetto3,900feetm) in the Venezuelan Coastal Range.

Taxonomy

The Paria brushfinch was often treated as a subspecies of the stripe-headed brushfinch (A. torquatus), but was determined a distinct species, on the basis of differences in vocalization, plumage, and genetics.[1] The SACC split the group in 2010.
