Pablo Gelber Explained

Pablo E. Gelber Ghertner (born 21 December 1974) is an orthopedic surgeon specialising in knee preservation surgery, with special emphasis on cartilage transplantation and ligament reconstruction procedures. He currently practices at the ReSport Clinic in Barcelona and in London, England.

Biography

Gelber was born on 21 December 1974 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Buenos Aires in 2001. He continued his training in Spain, where he completed his residency in Orthopaedic Surgery and Traumatology at the Parc de Salut Mar, associated to the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) in 2008. In 2007, he obtained his PhD degree Cum Laude from the same university.[1] In 2010, he completed a research fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh, United States.

Professional career

Since 2009, Gelber has been working at the Hospital de Sant Pau in Barcelona. His career focuses on the development of advanced techniques in knee surgery,[1] including osteochondral transplantation and procedures to preserve joint function in complex injuries.[2][3] In 2023, he began practicing in London.

Notable memberships

Gelber is an active member of several scientific societies in orthopaedic surgery, such as ESSKA (European Society for Sports Traumatology, Knee Surgery and Arthroscopy) and ISAKOS (International Society for Arthroscopy, Knee Surgery and Orthopaedic Sports Medicine). In 2020, he was recognised as the most valuable member of ESSKA.

Awards and recognition

Gelber has received multiple awards at scientific congresses for his work in orthopaedics and knee surgery, including the Best Scientific Study Award at the Spanish Arthroscopy Association Congress in 2021 and 2022.
