Omenuke Mfulu (born 20 March 1994) is a professional footballer who plays as a defensive midfielder for club Deportivo de La Coruña. Born in France, he plays for the DR Congo national team.
Mfulu was born in Poissy, France, to Congolese parents. He acquired French nationality on 27 September 2004, through the collective effect of his father's naturalization.[2]
Mfulu moved to Reims from Lille OSC in the summer of 2013, and did enough with the reserve team to earn a three-year professional contract with the Ligue 1 club the following January.[3] He made his professional debut as a substitute in a 0–0 draw with OGC Nice on 22 November 2014.[4] His full debut came on 16 May 2015 in a 1–0 victory over Rennes.[5]
After four years with Reims, Mfulu signed for Red Star in Championnat National on 5 August 2017.[6] On 17 June 2019, he moved to Spain and signed for Elche CF.[7]
On 2 August 2021, Mfulu signed a two-year contract with UD Las Palmas.[8] On 5 August 2024, he agreed to a two-year deal with Deportivo de La Coruña.[9]
On 9 October 2020, he represented the DR Congo national team in a friendly 3–0 loss to Burkina Faso.[10]
On 27 December 2023, Mfulu was included in the final 24-man squad for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.[11] He started his nation's first match at the tournament, a 1–1 draw with Zambia on 17 January 2024.[12]
