Om Murti Anil (; born 31 October 1978) is a Nepalese cadiologist, author and social media personality. He is the founder of National Cardiac Centre in Kathmandu. He has published two books: Ma Pani Doctor (2013) and Jiwanta Sambandha (2023). He has more than a million followers on facebook, where he shares his guidance and motivational posts on leading a healthy lifestyle.
Anil was born on 31 October 1978 in Dhamaura village of Mahottari district to Tej Narayan Singh and Rajakumari Devi Singh. He received his primary education there.[1] After high school, he got his ISC degree in Janakpur before completing MBBS at College of Medical Sciences in Bharatpur, followed by MD in internal medicine from Institute of Medical Sciences (IOM), Maharajgunj, and DM in cardiology from All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi.[2]
Anil is the founder of National Cardiac Centre, located in Basundhara, Kathmandu.[3] [4] [5] He also founded the Dr. Om Foundation in 2023, which runs a free telemedicine service from its headquarters in Basundhara.[6]
Anil coordinated a survey of 5,000 people in Kathmandu in 2014 to collect data on cardiovascular health. The findings were published in 2019 in the Journal of the Nepal Health Research Council (JNHRC).[7] [8] [9]
Anil published a book in Nepali language titled, Ma Pani Doctor (English, "I am also a doctor") in 2013.[10] [11] [12] His second book Jiwanta Sambandha was released in September 2023.[13]
Anil has more than 1.25 million followers on Facebook.[14] Creating his posts in response to queries from patients and followers, he offers guidance and motivation for adopting healthy lifestyle.[15] He set a Guinness World Record for "Most viewers for a cardiovascular health awareness live stream on Facebook" on 29 September 2023 when his 30-minute presentation focusing on the "Diagnosis of Hypertension"on World Heart Day attracted 11,212 live viewers.[16] He had earlier been recognised with another record in March 2023 for the "longest-running radio interview as a guest speaker on heart disease prevention," [17] which involved a series of interviews conducted over 44 consecutive weeks in 2014, broadcast on Image FM, Kathmandu.[18]
Anil is married to Manisha Baidar who is a nurse by profession. They have two children. [19]
