Oltenian dialect explained

The Oltenian dialect (Romanian; Moldavian; Moldovan: subdialectul/graiul oltenesc) is a dialect of the Romanian language spoken in the region of Oltenia, in Romania. Regionalisms from Oltenia include Romanian; Moldavian; Moldovan: cloță (Romanian; Moldavian; Moldovan: găină in standard Romanian, "chicken"), Romanian; Moldavian; Moldovan: oichi (Romanian; Moldavian; Moldovan: ochi, "eye") and Romanian; Moldavian; Moldovan: a străfiga (Romanian; Moldavian; Moldovan: a strănuta, "to sneeze").[1] A well-known particularity of the Oltenian dialect is the widespread usage of the simple perfect (Romanian; Moldavian; Moldovan: perfectul simplu) verb form for both past and present actions.[2] Oltenian is also spoken in the Timok Valley by the Timok Vlachs of Serbia and Bulgaria. Other than Oltenian, they also speak the Banat dialect.
