Oliva vidua, common name the black olive, is a species of sea snail, a marine gastropod mollusk in the family Olividae, the olives.
The length of the shell varies between 28 mm and 70 mm.
This species was responsible for five fatal cases of neurotoxic food poisoning in Sabah, Malaysia.[1]
Oliva vidua is endemic to the tropical Indo-Pacific Ocean,[2] occurring in the Mascarene Basin, the Bay of Bengal, the Philippines, Indonesia, Australia and New Guinea.
