Since boundary changes in 2019 the council ward of Old Windsor and the parish of Old Windsor have ceased to be coterminus with parts of the town of Windsor added to the council ward.

The OWRA currently sponsors two councillors (Lynne Jones and Neil Knowles) in the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead.

From 2017–2019, the OWRA were the official opposition on the Windsor and Maidenhead Borough Council, and Jones and Malcolm Beer were the Leader and Deputy Leader of the Opposition, respectively.[2]

As of 2023, OWRA are part of the governing coalition of Windsor and Maidenhead Borough Council alongside the Liberal Democrats with Jones serving as deputy leader of the council.[3]
