Olaf Lindenbergh (born 6 February 1974) is a Dutch former professional footballer who played as a defensive midfielder.

Club career

Lindenbergh was born in Purmerend. After playing at the youth level for ZOB, Ajax, and De Graafschap, he began his professional career with the latter in the Eerste Divisie. His debut came on 12 November 1994 in a 1–0 win over VVV. He became a key player and helped the team gain promotion to the Eredivisie, where he made 30 appearances in the following season. In total, Lindenbergh made 159 appearances for De Graafschap, scoring six goals, before moving to AZ Alkmaar in 1999.

At AZ, Lindenbergh quickly became a regular starter, although his appearances dwindled in his second season. By 2001, he regained his form and was instrumental in the team's unexpected run to the UEFA Cup semi-finals in 2005, where they were eliminated by Sporting Lisbon. His performances caught the attention of Ajax manager Danny Blind, and at the end of the 2004–05 season, Lindenbergh joined Ajax.

He debuted for Ajax in 2005 in a 2–0 Eredivisie victory over Willem II and made 18 appearances in his first season, also gaining experience in the UEFA Champions League. Ajax won the KNVB Cup that year. However, under new manager Henk ten Cate, Lindenbergh's playing time diminished, appearing in only 12 matches during the 2006–07 season. He continued to feature in the KNVB Cup, which Ajax successfully defended. After falling out of favor and being deemed surplus to requirements, Lindenbergh signed with Sparta Rotterdam.

Lindenbergh joined amateur club ASV De Dijk of the Vierde Klasse in 2012.[1]

International career

While at De Graafschap, Lindenbergh was called up into the Netherlands under-21 national team squad. He made his only appearance for the team on 15 November 1994, replacing Arjan Ebbinge in the 80th minute of a 2–2 draw against Czech Republic U21.[2]
