Obruby is a municipality and village in Mladá Boleslav District in the Central Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 200 inhabitants.
The name was derived from the old Czech word obrub, which can be translated as 'border', 'edge' or 'wall'.[2]
Obruby is located about 13km (08miles) east of Mladá Boleslav and 56km (35miles) northeast of Prague. It lies in the Jičín Uplands. The highest point is at 320m (1,050feet) above sea level. The stream Přepeřský potok flows through the municipality.
The first written mention of Obruby is from 1408.[3]
The I/16 road (the section from Mladá Boleslav to Jičín) passes through the municipality.
Obruby is poor in monuments. The only protected cultural monument is a rural homestead from the end of the 18th century.[4]
