Nick DeSimone (born November 21, 1994) is an American professional ice hockey defenseman for the New Jersey Devils of the National Hockey League (NHL).
He played college ice hockey at Union College. Undrafted, he signed a two-year contract with the San Jose Sharks on March 30, 2017,[1] and was later re-signed to a two-year contract on July 11, 2019.[2]
On April 12, 2019, DeSimone was traded to the Vegas Golden Knights who the loaned him to the Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League (AHL).[3] [4]
On July 17, 2021, his player rights were traded to the New York Rangers.[5] As an unrestricted free agent DeSimone signed a one-year, two way contract with the Calgary Flames on July 28,[6] later re-signing with the Flames to a two-year, two-way contract on July 13, 2022.[7] He played his first NHL game on November 7, 2022, a 4–3 overtime loss to the New York Islanders.[8] [9]
On January 25, 2024, DeSimone was claimed off of waivers by the New Jersey Devils.[10] He signed a one-year, one-way contract extension with the Devils on June 24.[11]
