Production
The design was built by Capital Yachts in Harbor City, California, United States, starting in 1974, but it is now out of production.[1] [2] [7] [8]
Design
The Newport 27S is a recreational keelboat, built predominantly of fiberglass, with wooden trim. It has a masthead sloop rig, a raked stem plumb stem, a plumb transom, an internally mounted spade-type rudder controlled by a tiller and a fixed fin keel. It displaces 60000NaN0 and carries 24000NaN0 of ballast.[1] [2]
The boat has a draft of 4.25feet with the standard keel.[1] [2]
A tall mast was optional, with a mast that was about 2feet higher, for sailing in areas with lighter winds.[3] [4]
The design has a hull speed of 6.33kn.[2]
