New Salem is an unincorporated community in Redbank Township, Armstrong County, Pennsylvania, United States.[1] It has also been known as Salem. The community is northeast of Kittanning and east of New Bethlehem.
New Salem was laid out between 1850 and 1853.[2] New Salem appears in the 1876 Atlas of Armstrong County, Pennsylvania.[3] A post office called Pierce was established in 1853 and remained in operation until 1932.[4]
