Nelly Chepchirchir (born 4 June 2003) is a Kenyan track and field athlete.[1]
Chepchirchir competed at the 2022 World Athletics U20 Championships in Cali, Colonbia and qualified for the final of the 800 metres.[2] In the final she ran a new personal best time of 2:01.42 to finish fourth.[3]
Chepchirchir ran a new personal best time of 1:58.23 in the 800m in Grosseto, Italy in May 2023.[4] The next month she set a new personal time best in the 1500m, clocking 3:58.96 in June 2023 in Hengelo. She won the 1500m at the Kenyan national trials, running 3:59.77 in Nairobi in July 2023.[5] She then won the Gyulai Istvan Memorial, World Athletics Continental Tour Gold, in Szekesfehervar, Hungary in July 2023 running 4:00.18.[6]
Selected for the 2023 World Athletics Championships, she won her heat and her semi-final in the 1500m to qualify for the final. In the final she ran a 3:57.90 personal best to finish fifth.[7] The following week, she lowered her personal best again, to 3:56.72 competing at the Diamond League in Xiamen, China.[8]
In May 2024, she finished third in the 1500 metres at the 2024 Doha Diamond League.[9]
In June 2024, she was named in the Kenyan team for the 2024 Paris Olympics.[10]
