Nearctodesmidae Explained

Nearctodesmidae is a family of flat-backed millipedes in the order Polydesmida. There are about 7 genera and 17 described species in Nearctodesmidae.[1] [2] [3] [4] [5]

The millipede, Nearctodesmus salix defensive secretion consist of hydrogen cyanide, benzaldehyde, 3-methylbutanoic acid, and 2-methylbutanoic. This shows cyanogenesis extends to the family Nearctodesmidae.[6]
