Nataly Rocha de Sousa (1986 or 1987, Ceara) is a Brazilian film, stage and television actress.[1] [2]
Nataly has a theatre education.
She is best known for her roles in the films and television series Rânia (2012), Fear of the Dark (2015), So Says the Legend (2016), The Strange Case of Ezequiel (2016), and Punishment (2021).[1]
In 2023, Rocha played the leading female role of Dayana in the film Motel Destino, directed by Karim Aïnouz,[1] [3] selected for participation in the main competition of the 2024 Cannes Film Festival.[4] She was chosen as director among about 500 applicants.[1] Filming took place in the state of Ceara, the actress's native state. The heroine Nataly is an ordinary woman, forced to live with a cruel and unloving husband, a former police officer and motel owner, who one day meets a guy named Eraldo much younger than herself.[5]
In addition to acting, Nataly Rocha explores screenwriting in theatre and film, as well as the hybridization of musical genres, visual and performance art.
As a casting director and acting teacher, she was awarded the Guarani National Film Critics Award (shared with Mónica Mendes) for The Head of Nêgo.
