Namakkal railway station (station code: NMKL) is an NSG–5 category Indian railway station in Salem railway division of Southern Railway zone.[1] It is a railway station situated in the Town of Namakkal in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. The station is an intermediate station on the newly commissioned Salem–Karur line which became operational in May 2013.[2]

History

Hon'ble MP Kulandaivelu demanded this railway line 1979 in Parliament written question.[3]

Projects and development

It is one of the 73 stations in Tamil Nadu to be named for upgradation under Amrit Bharat Station Scheme of Indian Railways.[4]
