NGC 1585 is a spiral galaxy in the constellation of Caelum. Its velocity with respect to the cosmic microwave background is 4,635 ± 31km/s, which corresponds to a Hubble distance of 68.4 ± 4.8Mpc (∼223million light-years). It was discovered by British astronomer John Herschel on 1 December 1837.

One supernova has been observed in NGC1585: SN2023vio (type Iax, mag.19).[2]
