NGC 1484 is a barred spiral galaxy approximately 50 million light-years away[2] from Earth in the constellation of Fornax. It was discovered by astronomer John Herschel on November 28, 1837.[3] NGC 1484 is a member of the Fornax cluster.[4] [5]

Its distance and size on the night sky convert to an approximate size of 35,638 light years, only a third or one-quarter the size of the Milky Way Galaxy.
