Mumbai South Lok Sabha constituency is one of the 48 Lok Sabha (parliamentary) constituencies of Maharashtra state in western India.[2]
Presently, after the implementation of the Presidential notification on delimitation on 19 February 2008, Mumbai South Lok Sabha constituency comprises six Vidhan Sabha (legislative assembly) segments. These segments are:

Oct. 11, 1988: JANATA DAL formed following the Merger of Janata Party, Janata Party (Secular) Lok Dal, Indian National Congress (Urs) and Jan Morcha under the leadership of V.P.Singh.
Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray)'s Arvind Ganpat Sawant won the seat by defeating Shiv Sena's Yamini Jadhav by 52,673 votes. Sawant led against Jadhav in four Assembly Constituencies: Worli (6,715 votes), Sewri (16,903 votes), Mumbadevi (40,779 votes) and Byculla (46,066 votes). Whereas Jadhav led against Sawant in two Assembly Constituencies: Colaba (9,732 votes) and Malabar Hill (48,287 votes).[3]
