Muhammedsabyr Bazarbayuly (Kazakh: Мұхаммедсабыр Базарбайұлы, Muhammedsabyr Bazarbayuly; born 27 November 2002) is a Kazakh professional boxer. He has gained recognition for his performances in the lightweight division and has represented Kazakhstan in various international competitions, including the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, France.[2] [3]

Career

Bazarbayuly has made a name for himself in the amateur boxing scene through his participation in numerous regional and international tournaments. His consistent performances and early victories have established him as a promising talent in Kazakhstan's boxing community.

2024 Summer Olympics

At the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, Bazarbayuly competed in the men's 63.5 kg weight category and advanced to the quarterfinals. There, he faced Georgian boxer Lasha Guruli in a closely contested bout. Despite a strong performance, Bazarbayuly was defeated by split decision. Following the match, the National Olympic Committee of Kazakhstan lodged a formal complaint, alleging bias in the judging and questioning the fairness of the decision.[4]

Other Competitions

Prior to the Olympics, Bazarbayuly participated in the Olympic qualification tournament in Thailand, where he secured a significant victory against Turkish boxer Mizan Aykol, advancing to the third round of the tournament. In the third round he won against Italian boxer Gianluigi Malanga, but lost in the quota bout against the eventual 2024 Summer Olympics golden medalist from Cuba Erislandy Álvarez.[5]
