Mountain Line Transit Authority is the main provider of public transportation located in Morgantown, West Virginia and the surrounding area. It is also the provider of bus service on the campus of West Virginia University. Inter-city bus service to Fairmont, Clarksburg, Waynesburg, PA, Pittsburgh, PA, and the Pittsburgh International Airport is achieved with the Grey Line. Fare for all local routes is $0.75, while Grey Line can cost up to $20 for a single person to Pittsburgh International Airport from Clarksburg WV. Westover Terminal to Crown. Passes Laurel Point, Arnettsville Community Center, Crown, Everettsville, Opekiska Dam, and Booth while traveling Dupont Road, River Road, and Fairmont Road (US Rt. 19). There are three runs, last one being in reverse direction. The first two start at the top of the hour (:00), while the last one starts at quarter past five (5:15pm) Monday-Saturday.
Westover Terminal to Summer School Road and the Kingwood Pike by way of Brockway Ave., Sabraton, Summer School Road, Kingwood Pike, Mountaineer Mall, the DMV, Downtown Morgantown, and the Westover Terminal. Has three runs during the day Monday-Saturday, all starting at the top of the hour (:00). 4:00pm run is reversed.
Leaves Westover Terminal and passes by South U Plaza, Morgantown Motel, Ashton Estates, Pilot Station, Triune-Halleck VFD, Clinton VFD, and Walmart while traveling Rt. 73, Halleck Road, and Grafton Road. The two runs that it has Monday-Saturday leave the downtown depot at 9:00am and 3:00pm. 3:00pm run is reversed.
Westover Terminal to the Pierpont Center by way of Willey Street and the Mileground. Most runs start at thirty-five minutes past the hour (:35), other than 7:15am and 6:05pm. Runs Monday-Saturday.

Late Night Runs - West Run Complex to the Courthouse by way of Stewart Street and the Mountainlair. Runs Thursday-Saturday during WVU fall and spring semesters. Runs every half hour.

Towers to Grant Street by way of the Law School and back by way of Beechurst Avenue and Patterson Drive. Frequency of every twenty minutes Monday-Sunday.

This route travels the reverse direction of Route 38 Blue & Gold, except University Avenue instead of Grant Street. Runs every twenty minutes Monday-Friday WVU fall and spring semesters.

Runs a loop between the University Avenue and Falling Run Road bus shelter and Valley View Avenue by way of Stewart Street and Willowdale Road. This route has a frequency of every fifteen minutes Monday-Friday.
This route begins and ends at Sabraton Sheetz and serves Tyrone Road, Tyrone-Avery Road, Fort Pierpont, University High School, Canyon Road, Cheat Road, Bowers Lane, and Tyrone Road back to Sabraton. Connects with 8 Brookhaven and 14 Mountain Heights at Sheetz, and 16 Pink Line at Fort Pierpont. Runs Monday-Saturday.
This route begins and ends at Mountaineer Station and runs in two sections. Northern "G" serves Van Voorhis Road, West Run Road and Mon General Hospital, while Northern "R" serves the neighborhoods of Star City and Suncrest. Each section runs around half an hour. Runs Monday-Saturday.
This free route runs from Westover Terminal to the Grafton Road Walmart, serving South U Plaza by request, and Scott Avenue. This route leaves at the top of the hour (:00) Monday-Sunday.
Westover Terminal to the Mylan Park Aquatic Center by way of the Morgantown Mall, Morgantown Commons, Westridge Shopping Center, I-79, The Gateway, PACE, and the Aquatic Center. Leaves at the top of the hour (:00) Monday-Sunday.
Starts at Westover terminal, then heads onto I-79 to University Town Centre before going out WV Route 7 past Cassville, Mason-Dixon Park, Blacksville, Clay-Batelle High School, until reaching Wadestown. Scheduled for the trip to take one hour each direction.

Green Line Commons - Downtown to Morgantown Mall and the Commons by way of Westover. Leaves at the bottom of the hour every hour (:30) Mon-Sat. There are also Sunday runs leaving from the Mountainlair at variable times. This was the westbound half of the previous Green Line.
Green Line Express - Downtown to Morgantown Mall. Does not serve the Commons above the mall. Leaves at the top of the hour (:00) Mon-Sat.
Green Mylan - Downtown to Mylan Park by way of the Morgantown Mall. Daytime runs leave at ten till the hour (:50), while evening runs leave at the bottom of the hour (:30) Mon-Sat. There are also Sunday runs leaving at the Walnut St. PRT Station at the top of the hour (:00).
Orange North - Downtown to University Town Center outbound by way of Westover and the Morgantown Mall and inbound by way of the WVU Coliseum, Towers, Evansdale Dr., and Beechurst Ave. Leaves at the top of every hour (:00). Route now covered by 51 Westridge Mylan, 6 Gold Line, and 39 Beechurst Express.
Orange Line Tripper Express - Unity Manor to the Mon County Ballpark by way of University Avenue, Towers, the Creative Arts Center, the WVU Coliseum, and University Town Center.
This is the current 4 Orange Line. The route was combined with Orange Line North in August 2011.
Gold Line H - Downtown to Ruby Memorial and Mon General Hospitals by way of University Ave. Leaves at the top of the even hours M-F. Replaced by 7 Red Line and 47 Northern Circulator.
Gold Line VV - Downtown to Independence Hill MHP by way of University Ave., Towers, Mountaineer Station, Indp. Hills, & North Hills. Leaves at the top of the odd hours M-F. Replaced by 47 Northern Circulator.
Downtown to Star City by way of University Ave. and Towers outbound to the neighbourhoods of Star City while serving Mountaineer Station on the inbound trip before continuing on to Towers and University Ave. Leaves at various times during the day Mon-Sat. Partially replaced by 47 Northern Circulator.
Downtown to Cheat Lake by way of Richwood Ave., Sabraton, Brookhaven, Richard, Dellslow, Tyrone Road, Tyrone-Avery Road, Cheat Road, and Fairchance Road. Leaves the downtown depot every 90 minutes starting at 6:30am. It would originally allow a deviation request to the Pierpont Center before taking I-68 from Exit 7 to Exit 10 before the old iron bridge was replaced over Cheat Lake. That deviation request is no longer allowed, so Pink Line must be used from the Depot or Blue Line if picked up along its route. Replaced with 8 Brookhaven and 46 Eastern Circulator.
Purple STC - Downtown to Suncrest Town Center by way of The Mountainlair, Stewart St., and the Suncrest Town Center before heading up to Chestnut Ridge Apts., Valley View Ave., and then back on to Stewart St. towards The Mountainlair. Leaves at the bottom of the hour (:30).
Purple UTC - Downtown to University Town Center by way of The Mountainlair, Stewart St., Suncrest Town Center, Ruby Memorial Hospital, Towers, Patterson Drive, WVU Coliseum, and University Town Center. Inbound also serves Chestnut Ridge Apts. and Valley View Ave. after going through the Suncrest Town Center before continuing on downtown. Leaves the depot every other hour starting at 7:00am Mon-Sat. UTC section now served by 6 Gold Line.
Purple on Sundays - Westover Terminal to Towers by way of The Mountainlair, Stewart St., Suncrest Town Center, and Ruby Memorial Hospital. Leaves Westover at the top of every hour (:00).
Purple Line (Original, 2000) - Served the Morgantown Airport, Easton Hill, Canyon Road, Glenmark Center, the Mileground, State Route 705, Stewartstown Road, Chestnut Ridge Road, Ruby Hospital, Willowdale Road, Grove Street, Center Street, Stewart Street, Bates Road, Hoffman Avenue, University Avenue, The Mountain Lair, and Willey Street back to the Morgantown Airport. Route ran Monday-Friday with partial Saturday service. The Canyon Road portion was transferred to 12 Blue Line in June 2002, with the Willey Street/Mileground/Glenmark Center portion transferred over to the new 16 Pink Line in August 2006.
This route used to provide limited service from the Downtown Depot to the Suncrest area of Morgantown. This bus traveled from the Depot, along Beechurst Avenue, Down Patteson Drive, left onto Laurel Street, onto University Avenue turning onto Collins Ferry Road, stopping at Unity House, proceeding on to Burroughs Place on Burroughs Street. At that point the route would begin its return trip via Pocahontas to Laurel where it will stop at the Krepps Park parking lot entrance before returning downtown to the Depot via Beechurst. It ran at various times Monday-Friday.
The old Blue Line would continue from the Airport to the Mileground, Easton Hill, and University High School. After the high school, it would go Canyon Road, Crest Point, DMV and back to the Depot. It would also serve the Pierpont Center by request. This section in now served by 46 Eastern Circulator.
Downtown to Mountaineer Mall by way of Brockway Ave. and Greenbag Road. Had two runs Mon-Fri at 11:45am and 1:00pm.
This service connected The District to the Medical Center PRT station and other bus routes by way of Van Voorhis Road.
While it was listed as its own route with its own pamphlet, it was more for rider convenience. The lot would be served by various routes during the day.
This route began September 2, 2008 and departed the Depot and traveled out to Riverside Commons via University Avenue, Beechurst Avenue, Monongalia Blvd and Jerry West Blvd. Destination currently served with 47 Northern Circulator.
First announced August 19, 2009 in a press release as Mountain Line's first express route, the UTC Express ran between Towers and the University Town Center, with stops throughout UTC as well as Texas Roadhouse, the WVU Coliseum, the Creative Arts Center, Evansdale Library, and Towers. Route was eliminated May 2010.
This route ran four times a day between Morgantown and Hundred, WV via Route 7. This trip cost $2.00 per ride. Was discontinued sometime in 2002/2003. The closest current equivalent route is 52 Wadestown.
Mountain Line main bus fleet currently consists of two brands of vehicles; Gillig and Ford. There are two types of vehicles in use; Low floor where there is only one step up from outside, and the higher floor vehicles where there is at least three steps coming up from the service door.
Mountain Line attempts to run their vehicles for at least 4–5 years for the Fords, 10–12 years for the Gilligs, and three years for their van fleet. Vehicles must also hit a certain mileage before they can be officially retired.
As of July 2023, These are the vehicles that Mountain Line still have in passenger service, All IC Transit Buses were sold by 2020 and no longer a part of Mountain Line Transit. All Fords from 2018 and earlier have been retired as of 2023, with 2019 Fords expected to be withdrawn within the next year. The final 2009 Gilligs in service were withdrawn in early 2023.
