Mount Airy/Surry County Airport is a public use airport located in the unincorporated Holly Springs community three nautical miles (6 km) southeast of the central business district of Mount Airy, a city in Surry County, North Carolina, United States. The airport is owned by the city and county. It is included in the National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems for 2011–2015, which categorized it as a general aviation facility.[2]
Although most U.S. airports use the same three-letter location identifier for the FAA and IATA, this airport is assigned MWK by the FAA but has no designation from the IATA[3] (which assigned MWK to Matak-Tarempa Airport in the Anambas Islands, Riau Islands Province, Indonesia).[4] The airport's ICAO identifier is KMWK.[5]
