Minqing County is a county in the eastern Fujian Province, China, it is under the administration of the prefecture-level city of Fuzhou, the provincial capital.
Fire from the soldiers at Meicheng (then romanized "Min-tsing") turned back an expedition by Karl Gützlaff and Edwin Stevens to explore and evangelize in Fujian's tea country in 1835.[1]
Minqing County includes the towns of Meicheng (Chinese: 梅城镇), Bandong (Chinese: 坂东镇), Chiyuan (Chinese: 池园镇), Meixi (Chinese: 梅溪镇), Baizhang (Chinese: 白樟镇), Baizhong (Chinese: 白中镇), Tazhuang (Chinese: 塔庄镇), Dongqiao (Chinese: 东桥镇), Xiongjiang (Chinese: 雄江镇), Jinsha (Chinese: 金沙镇), and Shenghuang (Chinese: 省璜镇) and the townships of Yunlong (Chinese: 云龙乡), Shanglian (Chinese: 上莲乡), Sanxi (Chinese: 三溪乡), Xiazhu (Chinese: 下祝乡), and Kulin (Chinese: 桔林乡).
