The Ministry of Justice (MOJ,) is a ministerial level body of the government of the Republic of China (Taiwan), responsible for carrying out various regulatory and prosecutorial functions.

History

Taiwan's first justice ministry was created as part of the Government-General of Taiwan when Taiwan was under Japanese rule.[1]

The Republic of China's Ministry of Justice was established in 1912 in mainland China. After several name changes, the Ministry of Judicial Administration began its administration in Taiwan in 1945, before the central government was shifted to Taipei in 1949 after the Republic of China retreated to Taiwan. On 1 July 1980, the ministry was renamed again to the Ministry of Justice.[2] [3]
