, known professionally as mikah, is a Japanese-American singer-songwriter and model.
He was a member of the Japanese-American boy group INTERSECTION and was subsequently in the Chinese boy group INTO1 after placing fourth in the hit Chinese reality competition program Chuang 2021.
In December 2023, mikah released his digital EP “bleached” and officially launched his solo career as a singer-songwriter.
Mikah was born on 21 December 1998, in Hawaii, to a German-descent father and a Japanese mother. He lived in Hawaii for 16 years, and attended University Laboratory School, a charter school in Honolulu, Hawai‘i.[1] In 2016, mikah moved to Japan alone after being recruited by a Japanese agency Avex. He attended an international school and continued on to Temple University, Japan Campus in Tokyo, where he also began his music career.
Mikah played soccer from the ages of 9 to 15 and dreamed of becoming a professional player. He won the Hawaii state championship for his age group.
Mikah also plays violin and ukulele from a young age.
In 2017, mikah became a member of the Japanese-American boy group INTERSECTION. They released their first single in 2017 with "Starting Over" but officially debuted in 2018 with "Heart of Gold".[2]
In December 2018, mikah released his first solo single "Tell Me". In March 2019, he released his second single "Road Trips".
mikah and two other members of Intersection took part in the Chinese survival reality program CHUANG 2021.[3] On the final episode, mikah placed fourth and became a member of the multi-national boy group INTO1.[4]
One of the audition program’s featured songs by mikah, “輸入法打可愛按第五 Push No.5 for Cute in Input Method”, attracted over 880 million views and ranked on all of China’s top charts.
During his two years of activity with “INTO1”, he released cover songs and singles, such as “Beautiful,” many of which topped various charts.
In December 2023, mikah released his digital EP “bleached” and officially launched his solo career as a singer-songwriter. The latest live performance video for “so I don’t forget,” posted on YouTube, surpassed 3 million views in three months. Alongside the special Korean band members featured in the video, mikah performed his first solo performance in Japan on the stage of Summer Sonic Tokyo 2024.[5]
On September 27, 2024, mikah, a singer-songwriter active in Asia and globally recognized fashion model, released his highly anticipated new song “MAYBE IT’S ME[6] .” This track represents a musical evolution from his previous release, “bleached” (December 2023), and was created with the intention of reaching a broader audience, showcasing a new direction in his music.[7]
mikah’s 2nd EP “Pretty Lies” has been released on 22 November 2024.
Mikah has featured on the cover of many magazines such as Harper's Bazaar Men,[8] L'Officiel Hommes,[9] Madame Figaro,[10] WSJ Magazine,[11] Elle Men,[12] Nylon (magazine) and more.[13] [14] He has also modelled for luxury brands, such as Louis Vuitton, Bottega Veneta,[15] [16] [17] Celine, Boucheron, Gucci, Tiffany & Co., and Burberry, as well as walked for Haute couture House Robert Wun during Paris Haute Couture Week in January 20204.[18]
