Michael Kelly (born 13 July 1996) is an Irish professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for side Accrington Stanley.

Career

A native of Confey in Leixlip, Kelly began playing with local side Confey FC,[2] before continuing his youth football with Cherry Orchard and Dunboyne.[3] He then played senior football in the League of Ireland for Shamrock Rovers II, Shamrock Rovers, Cabinteely, Longford Town, Bohemians and Bray Wanderers,[1] [4] before signing for English club Carlisle United on 30 July 2022.[5] On 30 May 2023, it was announced that Kelly had been released by the club following their promotion, without making a league appearance during the season.[6]

After over three months without a club,[7] on 9 September 2023 Kelly joined League Two club Milton Keynes Dons on a short-term deal following injury to Dons goalkeeper Nathan Harness.[8] Kelly was released by MK Dons at the end of the 2023–24 season.[9]

On 23 May 2024, Kelly was announced to have agreed to join EFL League Two side Accrington Stanley on a two-year contract.[10] He made his debut on 10 August 2024, in a 4–1 defeat away to Doncaster Rovers on the opening day of the season.[11]
