Mesquite is a census-designated place (CDP) in Starr County, Texas, United States. It is a new CDP, formed from part of the former Escobares CDP prior to the 2010 census, with a population of 505.[1]
Mesquite is located at 26.4025°N -98.9808°W (26.402434, −98.980938).[2]
Mesquite was formed prior to the 2010 U.S. Census along with Old Escobares CDP from the part of the Escobares CDP that was not incorporated into the city of Escobares.

The CDP is within the Roma Independent School District.[5] The zoned elementary school for the 2010 Census community is R. T. Barrera Elementary School.[6] Roma High School is the district's sole comprehensive high school.
