Mesonoemacheilus Explained

Mesonoemacheilus is a genus of stone loach endemic to India.

All species are endemic to rivers draining the Western Ghats and the genus is separated from the closely-related Nemacheilus by members possessing two pairs of rostral barbels which are confluent at their bases vs. rostral barbels present but not confluent.^[1]

Species

There are currently three recognized species in this genus:^[2]

• Mesonoemacheilus herrei Nalbant & Bănărescu, 1982
• Mesonoemacheilus pambarensis (Rema Devi & Indra, 1994)
• Mesonoemacheilus remadeviae Shaji, 2002
