Meredith Leigh Alwine (born June 8, 1998)[1] is an American weightlifter. She won the gold medal in the women's 71kg event at the 2021 World Weightlifting Championships held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.[2] [3] She is also a three-time gold medalist at the Pan American Weightlifting Championships.[4]

Career

In 2018, Alwine won the silver medal in the women's 75kg event at the Junior World Weightlifting Championships held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.[5] In that same year, she competed in the women's 71kg event at the World Weightlifting Championships held in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan.[6]

In 2020, Alwine won the gold medal in the women's 71kg event at the Roma 2020 World Cup in Rome, Italy.[1] [7] In 2021, she won the gold medal in her event at the Pan American Weightlifting Championships held in Guayaquil, Ecuador.[4] [8] [9]

Alwine won the bronze medal in the women's 71kg event at the 2022 Pan American Weightlifting Championships held in Bogotá, Colombia.[10] [11] She also won the bronze medal in the Clean & Jerk event in this competition.[11]

Alwine won the gold medal in the women's 76kg event at the 2023 Pan American Weightlifting Championships held in Bariloche, Argentina. She also won the gold medal in the Clean & Jerk event. In September 2023, she competed in the women's 76kg event at the World Weightlifting Championships held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.[12] She became injured during her first Clean & Jerk and she was unable to continue in the competition.[13]

Alwine won the bronze medal in the women's 71kg event at the 2023 Pan American Games held in Santiago, Chile.[14]
