The Memorial Student Center is the student center for Marshall University, in Huntington, West Virginia. The Memorial Student Center, named in memory of the Marshall Plane Crash, was built to house the university bookstore, diversify students meal options, and hold student-run organizations.[1]
Throughout the year there are dozens of annual events held within the Memorial Student Center including, Herdcon (a comic & toy convention), high school and collegiate level Speech and Debate Tournaments, and the Marshall University International Festival.[2] [3]
The Memorial Student Center Fountain sits right behind the student center. Designed by Harry Bertoia, it is 13 feet high and weighs over 6,500 pounds.[1] Every year, in mid-November, there is a memorial service, held by the fountain, in memory of the victims lost during the plane crash.[4]
