Carmelo "Mel" Alas (born July 3, 1969) is a Filipino coach. He is the brother of former PBA coach Louie Alas.
Alas was former head coach of Las Piñas College Huskies and St. Jude College. When he was in Huskies, he won two Colleges and Universities Sports Association (CUSA) from 2002 to 2003.[1]
Alas coached the Adamson Soaring Falcons replacing Luigi Trillo. But due to dismal performance,[2] Alas was replaced by interim coach Jing Ruiz before taken over by Leo Austria.[3]
Alas coached the Region 4–A in Private Schools Athletic Association (PRISAA) in 2012, but lost by 1 point 97–96 to Region 7 (Central Visayas).[4]
Mel Alas served as an assistant to his brother when the latter was the head coach of Letran Knights, and in PBA with the Phoenix Fuel Masters.[5]
