Mega (NES peripheral) explained

The Bandai Mega controller is a programmable unit released in 1987[1] and officially licensed by Nintendo for play on the Nintendo Entertainment System. It includes a built in LCD screen that displays the active functions, and a built in game.

The modes included are:

ModePurpose
MEGA Control Pad Lock"Locks-down" Control Pad in any selected direction.
A & B Button LocksTo "lock" or "unlock" A and B buttons.
Rapid Fire ModeControls rate of firing for A and B Buttons.
Slow-Mo ModeSlows down the game action.
Game 1 ModeA built-in challenge game. This game challenges you to press the A and B buttons as rapidly as possible during a 10-second period. A score of 120 or more allows access to TOP SECRET MODE.
Arsenal ModeSets the amount of available ammunition (number of times you are allowed to press each button.)
Timer ModeSets the amount of time to play a game.
Memory ModeMemorizes "password" sequences.
Top Secret ModeA built in LCD game in which you attempt to catch falling blocks with an on screen character. The blocks fall faster as you catch them.
This controller was also released for the Nintendo Famicom with the name Super Controller 2.[2]
