McNally is an Irish surname originating in County Tyrone, in the province of Ulster. It is the Anglicized form of 'son of Cú Allaidh', a Gaelic name of the Cenél nEógain clan meaning the 'wild hound', i.e. 'wolf'.[1] [2] [3] [4]
Prevalent in Ulster counties Antrim, Armagh and Monaghan, this McNally family is a branch of the “Northern Ó Néill” group of Ulster clans. They are separate from the Mayo name .[5] [6] [7]
