Mark Torcaso is an Australian soccer coach. He is the current head coach of the Philippines women's national football team, and was the inaugural coach of Western United FC in the A-League Women.

Career

Coaching

Torcaso has coached in the National Premier Leagues Women's (NPLW) where he mentored Calder United from 2016.[2] In August 2021, he would be appointed as head coach of Western United's women's developmental squad.[3]

Western United

Western United would join A-League Women for the 2022–23 season. On 29 June 2022, Torcaso was announced as the head coach of the club.[3] He would lead the club to the grand final where United lost 0–4 to Sydney FC[4] He would be named A-League Women Coach of the Year for the season.[5]

In December 2023, Torcaso announced his resignation from coaching Western United in order to commit to his role with the Philippines. He remains in an advisory role for the club.[6] [7]

Philippines

On 23 August 2023, the Philippine Football Federation announced that Torcaso would be coaching the Philippines women's national football team, succeeding Alen Stajcic who led the team in their debut 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup stint.[8] Torcaso remained coach of Western United and concurrently coached both teams.[9] He signed a two-year contract with the national team.[10]

He led team in the 2022 Asian Games and the second round of the 2024 AFC Women's Olympic Qualifying Tournament.[11]

Administration

Torcaso has been serving as the director of football at the St Monica's College in Melbourne since the 2000s.[2]
