Major Delmontzra Burns is an American football cornerback for the LSU Tigers. He previously played for the Georgia Bulldogs.

Early life and high school

Burns attended high school at Madison Prep Academy. In Burns high school career, he played on offense and defense. On offense he completed 13 of his 20 passing attempts for 244 yards and four touchdowns, with one interception, Burns also rushed for 17 yards, and he hauled in 22 receptions for 486 yards and five touchdowns. On defense Burns made 45 tackles with three being for a loss, two sacks, an interception, and a fumble recovery.[1] Burns would initially decide to commit to play college football at LSU, but would flip to Texas A&M.[2] But Burns would then flip his commitment again this time to the University of Georgia.[3] [4]

College career

Georgia

In Burns first season with Georgia in 2020 he played in six games, where he totalled five tackles.[5] However after the conclusion of the 2020 season, Burns would decide to enter the NCAA transfer portal.[6] [7]

LSU

Burns would decide to transfer to LSU to continue his career.[8] [9] In week three of the 2021 season, Burns recorded his first career interception, as he helped LSU beat Central Michigan.[10] However Burns would suffer a foot injury that would sideline him for the rest of the season after starting in just five games.[11] Burns finished the 2021 season with 25 tackles, a pass deflection, and an interception.[12] However in the 2022 season, Burns would again suffer an injury that would cause him to miss five games.[13] Burns would finish the 2022 season with 38 tackles with 3.5 going for a loss, and three pass deflections.[14] Burns annonuced the he would decide to return to LSU for his senior season in 2023.[15] In week six of the 2023 season, Burns intercepted a pass in the final minutes and returned it for a touchdown, as he helped the Tigers survive Missouri 49-39.[16]
