Majdan Wielki (pronounced as /pl/) is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Krasnobród, within Zamość County, Lublin Voivodeship, in southeastern Poland.[1] It lies approximately 8km (05miles) east of Krasnobród, 200NaN0 south of Zamość, and 930NaN0 south-east of the regional capital Lublin.
See main article: Majdan Wielki massacre. On 20 September 1939, during the invasion of Poland, German troops carried out a massacre of 42 Polish prisoners of war near the village (see also Nazi crimes against the Polish nation).[2] At least one Polish soldier survived the massacre.[2]
