Canada

In year 2000 Canada produced the second-most Mg mineral in the world, and by 2011 it produced none.[2] This may have been the result of the toxic sulfur emission SF6 problem, regulated by the Kyoto accord. Many resources exist in south-eastern British Columbia.[3]

Mines

Smelters and refineries

Secondary producers

A non-exhaustive list of producers were in 2000:[6]

  1. Magnesium Products Ltd., Strathroy, Ontario
  2. Indalloy, Rexdale, Ontario
  3. Trimag, Haley Station, Ontario
  4. Dynacast, Pointe Claire, Quebec
  5. ITM, Quebec City

China

China accounts for 85% of Mg production.[9]
