Adelabu was born and brought up in Lagos State. He obtained a degree in Mass Communication from the University of Lagos.[5] He is known for a distinctly hybrid approach fusing trap, dancehall, Afropop and R&B.
Magixx's musical journey began in Lagos, Nigeria, where his passion for music blossomed at a young age. Introduced to artists like Fela Kuti and DMX, Magixx started experimenting with music at 12.[6] He honed his skills in the local church choir and drew inspiration from his family's diverse musical tastes, with his mother serving as a steadfast supporter.
Despite initial doubts, Magixx's talent shone through, earning recognition with a university singing competition win. This moment marked a shift in his father's perspective, leading to newfound support for Magixx's musical aspirations. Encouraged by his family's backing, Magixx began pursuing music seriously, determined to carve out a career in the industry.
Magixx began singing in the choir at the age of 10.[7] In 2019, after struggling to pay for studio sessions in uni, Magixx released ‘Problem’, a showcase of the sounds he was experimenting with at that time. In September 2021, he was signed to Mavin Records and released his debut self-titled EP Magixx, in that same year.[7]
In February 2022, he released a new version of "Love Don't Cost a Dime" with Ayra Starr, which debuted at 27 on TurnTableTop 50 chart, and peaked at number 8, on 28 March 2022.[8] [9] On 20 July 2022, he released "Shaye" as the lead single from his second EP ATOM.[10] ATOM was released on 22 July 2022, to positive critical response.[11] He launched 2023 with a two-pack release with the tracks Colors (My Baby) & Loyal [12] and in August he released Maria.[13]
