Madame (clothing) explained

Madame was established in the early 1980s,[1] [2] based in Gurugram, Haryana.[2] There are over 800 employees.[3] The brand is targeted at teenage and younger women.[4]

MADAME is a western-wear women’s fashion brand that offers the young fashion-conscious woman. Owned by Jain Amar, the brand provides fast fashion for young women across three continents through EBOs, Store-in-Store Outlets, an official ecommerce website and other online marketplaces. Madame engages over 2,50,000 women every week, across 500 retail touchpoints, including 150 Exclusive Branded Outlets (EBOs), Large Format Stores (LFS), and other leading Retail Outlets.[5]

History

Owned by Jain Amar (one of India’s multi-brand fashion conglomerates) MADAME came into inception in 1993, as a women’s exclusive fashion brand.

The first EBO was opened in Mumbai in 2002. MADAME’s first e-shop was launched in 2008. The first international store in KSA was launched in 2011. By this time, there were over 100 retail stores of MADAME already in the country. The brand later diversified as a fashion clothing and accessories brand and is present across three continents today. Further expansion took place with the launch of the official website, www.glamly.com in 2018.

“In the early ’90s, the Indian market for women's western-wear was dominated by imports from China and Thailand, which inspired the company to launch MADAME to create a world-class brand of fashionable western wear for Indian women.”- Akhil Jain, Executive Director, JACPL [6]

Tara Sutaria Roped In As The Brand Face

Madame launched Tara Sutaria as the brand’s celebrity face in 2021. The campaign showed  Tara alongside a group of other young women, meandering in a picturesque dreamland of floral orchids and sun-kissed landscapes, and later stepping out of the dream doorway to realize that the dreamland was MADAME’s outlet. The campaign was themed #MakeNowYours, enforcing that MADAME’s spring-summer and autumn-winter collections would be exactly about immersing oneself in nature and own the now with their 2022 collections.[9] [10]

Launch of First Perfume, Lueur, in collaboration with Shanaya Kapoor

Entering another lifestyle category, MADAME launched its fragrance line in 2023 and announced Shanaya Kapoor as the brand’s face for MADAME Fragrances, with the launch of Lueur by MADAME – a premium French fragrance. [4]
