M Kiran Kumar is an Indian businessman and the chairman of Lalitha Jewellery and philanthropist from Nellore, Andhra Pradesh.[1] [2] [3] [4] [5] He is also the managing director of Lalitha Jewellery, one of India's largest retail jewellery advertiser on TV and world's largest jewellery showroom owner having 1,30,000 sq ft surpassing Malabar Gold showroom having 1,10,000 sq feet.[6] [7] [8]
According to The New Indian Express, in 2017 Lalitha Jewellery made a turnover of ₹110 billion,[9]
Kiran Kumar started his business at actress Savitri Ganesan's house after purchasing it and expanded his business from there.[10]
Kiran Kumar was born as the eighth child into a poor family in Nellore. Due to the circumstances he is a 5th class dropout. He started jewellery trade at the age of 12 when he was working as a child worker[4]
Kiran Kumar is the managing director and Chairman of Lalitha Jewellery, a BIS certified Indian jewellery group based in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. The company was established in the year 1985.[11] He is also the company's current chairman. In 2017 he has opened the 15th and world's largest jewellery showroom with 130000 sq feet space of Lalitha Jewellery by spending around 750 crores surpassing Malabar Gold's 110000 sq feet jewellery showroom. Lalitha Jewellery has 50 showrooms across India at present.[6] [12]
In 2020, 13 crores worth Diamond, Gold and Platinum jewellery was robbed by robbers who came wearing Cat and dog face mask.[13] Later the robbers were arrested.[14]
Rajnikanth movie Lingaa was shot in Lalitha Jewellery for about 20 minute visual in the movie.[15]
According to TV9 Telugu and ABP News, he went viral in social media for having tiffin from a covered cart on the roadsides which sell the street food in Nellore.[3] [16]
Kiran Kumar himself is seen as brand ambassador for Lalitha Jewellery Television and print ads.[4] [14] His dialogue Dabbulu Evariki Oorike Raavu has become very popular in Andhra Pradesh.[10]
Kiran Kumar has purchased major shares of Auto company DC Design in 2016, founded by Auto designer Dilip Chhabria in 2003 and was one of the directors of the company.[17] [18] Later Dilip Chhabria got arrested in 2020 for running a car scam using the firm DC Design on complaint from Kiran Kumar.[19]
Kiran Kumar is married to Hema Kiran, and they have three children.[5]
Kiran Kumar has donated 1 crore rupees to chief minister of Andhra Pradesh YS Jagan Mohan Reddy towards Chief Minister's relief fund during COVID-19.[20]
Kiran Kumar has donated 21 lakh rupees towards the construction of Sri Ayyappa Swamy Temple in Nandigama mandal.[21]
Kiran Kumar has donated 1 crore rupees to chief minister of Andhra Pradesh nara Chandra Babu Naidu for Vijayawada flood relief fund 2024.
