M. A. Mohammed Jamal (19 January 1940– 21 December 2023) was an Indian politician[1] [2] [3] and community leader and religious scholar and social worker and caretaker to thousands of orphans[4] from Kerala, South India who was the Kerala State General secretary Indian Union Muslim League[5] from 1983 to 1992. He also served as the general secretary of the Wayanad Muslim Orphanage since 1988.[6]
M. A. Mohammed Jamal was born in Manikuni in Sulthan Bathery on 1940, He studied in his native place and later on in Guruvayoorappan college in Kozhikode. M.A. started his public life as a member of the Indian Union Muslim League. Mohammed Jamal followed the demise of Abdurahman Bafaqi in 1987. Taking charge of Wayanad Orphanage.[7] He had started working with the Wayanad Muslim Orphanage (WMO) since 1967, his life to the orphanage since 1967, Jamal transformed the lives of numerous orphans,[8] His a significant providing religious and moral education to approximately 9000 students in Wayanad.
Mohammed Jamal died of age-related disease at a private hospital in Kozhikode on December 21, 2023, at the age of 83.[9] [10]
Mohammed Jamal received a PhD from the University of Calicut in recognition of his philanthropic endeavours.[11]
