Lwengo is a town in Central Uganda. It is the chief municipal, administrative and commercial center of Lwengo District. It was known as Mbiriizi, prior to 1 July 2010.
Lwengo is located approximately 35km (22miles), by road, west of Masaka, the largest city in the sub-region.[1] This location lies approximately 165km (103miles), by road, southwest of Kampala.[2]
The 2014 national population census put the population of Lwengo Municipality at 15,527[3]
