Lucas De Bolle (born 22 October 2002) is a Scottish professional footballer, who last played as a midfielder for Premier League club Newcastle United.[1]
The son of Belgian parents, he played at Wallsend Boys Club prior to joining up with Newcastle United in 2015.[2]
De Bolle appeared on the substitutes bench of four Premier League games for Newcastle United during the 2021–22 season, without seeing any action. He signed a new two-year contract with Newcastle in the summer of 2022.[3] De Bolle suffered the after effects of a concussion received playing for the Newcastle under-21s, which hampered his progress.[4]
De Bolle joined Hamilton Academicalon a season-long loan on 1 September 2022.[5] He made his Scottish Championship debut a 2–0 defeat at home to Queen's Park on 17 September 2022.[6] [7] He made his first start for Hamilton in a 2–0 win over Inverness Caledonian Thistle on 10 December 2022 in the 2022–23 Scottish Challenge Cup.[8] He scored his first senior goal on 18 February 2023 in a 3-0 league win for Hamilton against Inverness Caledonian Thistle.[9] [10]
In March 2022, De Bolle was called up to the Scotland national under-21 football team.[11]
