Lowell Area Schools (LAS) is a school district headquartered in Lowell, Michigan, US,[1] whose boundary includes sections of Kent County and also of Ionia County. In addition to Lowell itself, the school district includes Alto, Bowne Center, Elmdale, and Parnell.[2] Townships with a territory in the district include Bowne,[3] Grattan,[4] and Vergennes.[5] Grand Rapids is about 18miles to the west of the district.[1]

Nate Fowler was appointed superintendent in 2021.

The district has nearly 4,000 students. 95% of general education students are expected to achieve grade level or beyond in reading and mathematics. It uses research-based practices and data analysis, seeks to develop staff, and offers Freshman Center courses and senior internships.

Within the district there are four elementary schools serving families living within the city of Lowell and to the north and south. Unity High School offers a personalized alternative setting for grades 9-12. The Wittenbach-Wege Agriscience and Environmental Center provides science instruction and trails within a natural setting.
