Loraine is a city in Renville County, North Dakota, United States. The population was 9 at the 2020 census.[2] It is part of the Minot Micropolitan Statistical Area.

Loraine was founded in 1907 and is said to have been named by Mohall banker Sherwood H. Sleeper (namesake of Sherwood) for Fort La Reine, one of the forts of the exploration directed by Pierre Gaultier de Varennes, sieur de La Vérendrye in the 18th century.[3]

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.245sqmi, all land.[1]

2010 census

As of the 2010 census, there were 9 people, 4 households, and 2 families residing in the city. The population density was 36PD/sqmi. There were 7 housing units at an average density of 28/sqmi. The racial makeup of the city was 100.0% White.

There were 4 households, of which 25.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 50.0% were married couples living together, and 50.0% were non-families. 50.0% of all households were made up of individuals. The average household size was 2.25 and the average family size was 3.50.

The median age in the city was 49.3 years. 22.2% of residents were under the age of 18; 11.1% were between the ages of 18 and 24; 11.1% were from 25 to 44; 55.5% were from 45 to 64; and 0.0% were 65 years of age or older. The gender makeup of the city was 66.7% male and 33.3% female.

The average household size was 2.38 and the average family size was 3.20.
