Lone Elm is a city in Anderson County, Kansas, United States. As of the 2020 census, the population of the city was 27.[2]
A post office was opened in Lone Elm in 1879, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1956.[3]
Circa 1910, Lone Elm had a bank, a dozen retail establishments, and a population of 175.[4]
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.08sqmi, all of it land.[5]
The 2020 United States census counted 27 people, 12 households, and 10 families in Lone Elm.[6] The population density was 397.1 per square mile (153.3/km). There were 14 housing units at an average density of 205.9 per square mile (79.5/km).[7] [8] The racial makeup was 88.89% (24) white or European American (88.89% non-Hispanic white), 0.0% (0) black or African-American, 0.0% (0) Native American or Alaska Native, 0.0% (0) Asian, 0.0% (0) Pacific Islander or Native Hawaiian, 3.7% (1) from other races, and 7.41% (2) from two or more races.[9] Hispanic or Latino of any race was 0.0% (0) of the population.[10]
Of the 12 households, 50.0% had children under the age of 18; 58.3% were married couples living together; 16.7% had a female householder with no spouse or partner present. 16.7% of households consisted of individuals and 8.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
