A performance of the song in July 1968 in San Diego at The Hippodrome is mentioned in the article "Dead Lie the Velvets, Underground" by Lester Bangs. The refrain to the song is reportedly: "sweet rock and roll, it'll cleanse your soul". Sterling Morrison also contends that the song was a "preamble" to "Sister Ray".
