The Mongolian words for river are (Mongolian: гол) and (Mongolian: мөрөн), with the latter usually used for larger rivers. The Mongolian names also occasionally have a genitive construction, with the name of the river having the suffix (Mongolian: -ийн) or (Mongolian: -ын).
