List of people who died in the July massacre explained

The July massacre, which took place during the Student–People's uprising, resulted in significant casualties, including protesters, opposition members, and civilians. The mass killing occurred under the Sheikh Hasina government and involved law enforcement agencies like the Police and RAB, along with participation from the Awami League's student wing, Chhatra League, youth wing, Jubo League, and volunteer wing, Swechasebak League.[1] [2]

The 2024 quota reform movement aimed to reduce the quota system in government job recruitment in favor of a merit-based approach. The government's response included a crackdown that led to reports of over 266 deaths during the protests and related incidents. The high casualty figures contributed to the rise of the non-cooperation movement,[3] [4] [5] which led to Sheikh Hasina's resignation and departure from the country. A preliminary UN investigation estimated that approximately 650 people were killed in the violence between July 16 and August 5. This article lists the individuals who died during the July Massacre.[6]
